In today’s blog post, your local provider of apartments for rent in Denver, NC, Riverwalk Apartment Homes will be discussing a few of the things that you should be mindful of while you move in.

Get To Know Your Apartment Layout Before You Move

Once you have signed your lease for your new apartment in Denver, it is time to look at your new floor plan with more scrutiny. Yes, you obviously have looked at the floorplan to some extent already prior to signing your lease, but now it is time for you to visualize how your furniture will fit in the apartment before you move in. Why are we suggesting such an odd thing? As a provider of apartments in Denver, NC, we see our new residents in a bind upon moving in all too often. It is not uncommon for people to realize AFTER moving their large couch into their third-story apartment that the couch will not fit. By visualizing  your furniture, you might be able to avoid having to carrying a plus-sized couch back down the stairs.

Read The Rules

Before you move in it is also important for you to review your lease agreement. While here at the Riverwalk Apartment Homes we are a rather relaxed management staff, there are some apartment complexes that are not. Of course, we are talking about large issues such as painting, changing appliances, and other renovations of that nature. By reviewing your lease agreement, you might be able to better judge what limitations you have when it comes to renovating, decorating, or changing your apartment’s setup. If you have any questions in regard to how you can renovate your new apartment, feel free to contact our front desk and ask!

Stay Organized

One of the most important things that we can tell you before you move into our apartment community is to stay organized throughout the entire process. In doing so, moving will feel like less of a stress and more of a formality. First and foremost, start packing your old home well before you move, starting with the non-essentials and slowly moving towards packing things that you use daily as your move-in day approaches. As you pack the boxes, it is important to label the boxes extremely well so you know where to put them in your new apartment. We can’t stress enough that anything that you can do to make your move-in day easier is worth doing.

Make A Todo List

It is safe to say that regardless of how well you think that you have packed that moving and unpacking will turn into a long process. Because of this, it is important to make a list of things that you need to do and set goals to mark one or two things off of that list a day. Consider adding tasks like “get utilities set up”, and “unpack kitchen boxes” so that you can visually see your progress in settling in.

Ask For Help

Arguably, one of the most important things that you can do when moving into your new Denver, NC, apartment is to ask for help. Ask your friends if they can help. Ask your family if they can help. Heck, if you need a couch carried up the stairs and you need an extra hand, stop by the front desk and ask us for help. While your friends and family might not exactly be excited to help you, they will likely still give you a hand — making your move incredibly easier. After your friends and family help you move, do something nice for them as a thank you. Maybe invite them over for a home-cooked meal once you are all settled in — any gesture, large or small, will be appreciated.
