Summer Activities That you Can Do To Beat The Heat

Like most cities in North Carolina, Denver can get incredibly hot during the summer. While hot summer days are welcomed by most, it is impossible to go day-to-day exposing yourself to the brutal outdoor temperatures and sunlight. In order to avoid sunburn and heat exhaustion, most people stay inside their Denver apartments and home — watching movies, napping, playing games, and reason. While yes, all of those activities are fun, relaxing, and sometimes necessary, it is important that you find some fun ways to stay out of the heat that involves you getting out of the house.

As a provider of apartments for rent in Denver, we know a thing or two about the hot summers, here at the Riverwalk Apartment Homes. Because of this, we thought it might be beneficial to talk about a few fun things that you can do instead of sitting around in your apartment all day to beat the intense summer heat.

Spend A Day At The Lake

When most people think about staying out of the summer heat, they tend to think about activities that are indoors. While yes, being indoors is a surefire way to stay out of the heat, it is not the only way to avoid sunburn and exhaustion. In fact, you can stay outside, you just need a source that can cool you and your friends down. And what better source of cooling is there than the brisk waters of Lake Norman?

Here in Denver, we are lucky enough to be located by a large body of water that is a great source for tourism and economic stability. That being said, it is not just the tourists that can participate in boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities that Lake Norman provide out area. So what are you waiting for? Pack a cooler, grab some friends, and make it a lake day!

Tour A Museum

If you are considering activities that can keep you indoors for the day, consider visiting one of the many museums in the Denver and Lake Norman area. When most people think of museums, they tend to think about cold and dark places where you skim over information like you once did on middle school field trips. While yes, museums are still in fact cold and dark (part of why we are suggesting that you visit one on a hot summer day), they are also a lot more engaging than you likely remember — being that as an adult you are typically more interested in history and science than you were when you were a kid.

Check Out An Escape Room

If there is one indoor activity that is taking the country by storm, it is escape rooms. Escape rooms are fun interactive puzzles that allow you and your friends to solve large life-sized puzzles that embody real-life situations. Because these puzzles follow a plot, and you become a character in the story, they can create adrenaline and tension while forcing collaborative efforts between you and your friends.

There are a few escape rooms within a reasonable distance of our apartment community, and each one has a variety of different stories, plots, and puzzles for you to experience. Heck, you could spend the greater part of a day experiencing an escape room.

Happy Hour

Say that you have been avoiding the heat all day and end up falling asleep in your apartment in Denver. You wake up and it is already 4 pm. So it is too late to actually do something with your day, right?

Absolutely not! Sometimes it is nice to get out of the apartment for a few hours. Consider grabbing a couple of friends and having a couple of drinks at your favorite local watering hole. But choose wisely, because if the patio does not have shade or if the bar does not have air conditioning you might find yourself less comfortable than if you were to just stay home.
